Mold Licensing in Tennessee

The state of Tennessee requires all contractors to be licensed with the state. Licenses are classified according to the job size your organization is completing for customers. There are 2 types of licenses that can satisfy the states Mold licensing requirements

To qualify for Mold in the state of Tennessee your organization must hold either the Home Improvement license or a General Contractor license with an S-Mold designation

Contractor Licenses in Tennessee


There are 2 types of licenses for contractors in the state of Tennessee:

  • Home Improvement
    • Required for all contractors who conduct home improvement projects up to $25,000.00
    • Examples of Home Improvement include: Driveways, swimming pools, porches, garages, landscaping fences, shelters, roofing, painting, environmental remediation (asbestos, lead, mold), and other improvements for the repair, removal or demolition of any damage to abuilding or structure caused by insects or natural disaster.
  • General Contractor
    • Required for all contractors who conduct projects above $25,000.00
    • To satisfy the Mold License requirements, your GC license must include the S-Mold designation
